Is TANDEM Cat® a grooming school?
Do I need grooming experience?
Foundations and several role programs do not require grooming experience. Certified TANDEM Cat® Groomer and Clinical Immersion require relevant experience or an approved supervised pathway.
Does completing a course make me certified?
No. Some programs provide a completion record or professional certificate. Certified TANDEM Cat® Groomer requires the full eligibility and assessment process described in the published standard.
Is certification guaranteed when I pay tuition?
No. Tuition provides education, assessment, feedback, and the opportunity to meet the standard. Learners who do not yet meet the standard receive documented remediation options.
Does TANDEM replace veterinary care?
No. TANDEM teaches observation, handling, grooming, environment, documentation, and decision support within professional scope. Diagnosis, prescribing, pharmacology, and veterinary treatment remain with the appropriate veterinarian.
Does TANDEM mean every cat can be groomed awake?
No. TANDEM was developed for awake grooming and may expand what a skilled team can support, but some cases should be modified, divided, deferred, referred, or completed with veterinary support.
Why is TANDEM team-based?
Defined roles allow one professional to focus on support, body organization, threshold, and communication while another performs the care. Staffing decisions still depend on case complexity, role, facility, and policy.
How long do I have course access?
Foundations and most role programs include 12 months of access. Certified TANDEM Cat® Groomer includes 24 months. The current access period appears on the product page and checkout before purchase.
Are payment plans available?
Payment plans are available for selected programs. The total installment amount, schedule, access rules, and refund terms are disclosed before checkout.
Can my organization buy seats?
Yes. Small groups may purchase team seats. Organizations seeking shared workflow, SOP adaptation, leadership alignment, or facility standards should use the Team Implementation or Certified Facility pathway.
Can rescue organizations receive discounted access?
TANDEM uses sponsored cohorts, scholarships, partner grants, and rescue-specific packages rather than routinely discounting the full professional credential.
What is Clinical Immersion?
Clinical Immersion is an application-based one- or two-day experience inside Cats in the City. It focuses on observation and case discussion in a live care environment. Hands-on participation is not guaranteed.
How is an active credential verified?
Use the public Certified Network to search by name, facility, location, credential number, and current status.
How often must certification be renewed?
The recommended standard requires renewal every two years, continuing education, ethics and scope reaffirmation, and current registry information.
Can I use TANDEM materials in my own training?
Purchase does not automatically include reproduction, instructor, or commercial training rights. Permitted use is stated in the product, faculty, or licensing agreement.
