The Edge
In The Edge, the handler positions the cat on its belly and slides it to the edge of the grooming table. Most cats will look downward at the floor, naturally lengthening their neck, which provides easy access to the neck, head, and shoulders. This natural behavior helps distract the cat, making it easier to groom around the head, ears, mane, and under the chin. The cat’s position allows the handler to maintain control while minimizing stress for the cat. The Edge is a highly effective TANDEM™ hold because it leverages a cat’s natural behaviors, enhancing safety and ease of grooming. When a cat is in a resting position on its belly, gently slide them to the edge of the grooming table. Most cats will instinctively look downward at the floor, causing their neck to lengthen naturally. This posture grants the groomer excellent access to the cat’s neck, head, and shoulders. Additionally, the downward gaze stimulates the cat, distracting it and making it less likely to resist grooming around sensitive areas such as the head, ears, mane, and under the chin. By exploiting these natural tendencies, The Edge Hold ensures a more efficient and stress-free grooming session for both the cat and the handler. This method not only improves the grooming experience but also reinforces a sense of security and calmness in the cat.
