What Is Environmental Choreography™?
Environmental Choreography™ is a trauma-informed methodology for structuring physical space and procedural flow in feline care. It combines environmental design, sensory regulation, and movement sequencing into a single, teachable system.
In practice, this means:
- Designing sound-dampened suites that lower auditory stress.
- Sequencing transitions between rooms to avoid startle and shutdown.
- Coordinating lighting, airflow, and handler movement as a choreography of calm.
- Embedding somatic pacing so the cat’s body—not the clock—guides care.
Training & Certification
Environmental Choreography™ is a formal training program delivered exclusively by TANDEM Cat®.
Participants learn to:
- Apply Environmental Choreography™ principles to grooming, boarding, or veterinary care.
- Recognize somatic distress and use environment as a therapeutic tool.

This method is a safer and more relaxed experience for your cat. When the TANDEM Cat® Grooming technique is used, two or more professional groomers attend to your cat, comfortably and naturally positioning them while the lead groomer focuses on the coat. Solo grooming involves only one groomer, which is unsafe and stressful.
